Please help me gather insights on emergency preparedness for our UU congregations. In addition to the work we did in reducing the toll of the 2009 H1N1 influenza A, there are other concerns, such as > Choosing an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), raising funds to obtain it, where to install it, and determining who in the congregation says, DNR (Do Not Resuscitate), that is, don't use it on me. > Preparing for disarming and restraining a person with a weapon and protecting others from a potential assailant. > Reducing spread of infection through offering alcohol-based hand cleanser for everyone before picking up a plate and utensils -- usually after handling money. > Choosing, planning and installing a security system to reduce the toll of robbery and burglary through motion alerts and video-audio recording I am preparing for the Prairie Star District UUA Conference in Davenport, IA, Friday=Sunday, April 23-25, where I hope to share these insights with a person who shares our concerns in each of the other congregations.
