A. Introducing.UU EcoMinds-A List

EcoMinds created this A-List (announcement list) to keep our members in touch, and to allow the work of the group to continue without needing to add another monthly meeting to our busy schedules! It is a work in progress. If you find it isn't meeting your needs, please let the leadership know!

WHAT SORTS OF MESSAGES WILL I GET and HOW MANY?

You'll get about 4 e-mails a month which will include:

· EcoMinds news, updates and meeting announcements.

· EcoMinds task forces' updates and announcements.

· Queries from UU EcoMinds Leadership Team soliciting your feedback on proposals or asking for volunteers to help work on specific projects or events. Queries will include a specific e-mail address to which to respond.

· Info from metro UU Congregations about their environmental activities and events.

· Relevant news, updates and announcements from our partner organizations, including Minnesotans for an Energy Efficient Economy (ME3) and Congregations Caring for Creation (C3).

· LIMITED other news of events with a Minnesota connection and educational payoff directly related to Global Warming.

WHAT WON'T I GET?

You won't get general news or information about the state of the environment or every action alert that comes from the Seventh Principle Project or Sierra Club (both great groups). As a group, we EcoMinds agreed that there are many other sources for the current science and policy debates and action. This limitation is for our own good! It'll help us stay focused on our action plan and current projects. We urge you to join as many other environmental organizations as you can!

HOW DID I GET ON THIS LIST? (And how do I get off?)

To the best of our knowledge, you expressed a desire to be kept in-the-know about the UU EcoMinds group, so we've signed you up for this listserve.

If you were subscribed in error or no longer want to be on this list, please visit the EcoMinds-A Info Page, or, in case of difficulty there, send an e-mail to Fred Olson (fholson "at" cohousing.org)

B. A word about the Metro UU EcoMinds group

MISSION: UU EcoMinds promotes lifestyles, policies and technologies that respect and sustain all life on earth and is a working group of the Metro UU Social Justice Alliance (MUUSJA).

WHO & WHY & HOW WE ARE: EcoMinds was founded in 2005 in response to the UUA's Study/Action Issue "The Threat of Global Warming". We are Twin Cities area Unitarian Universalists, passionate about taking action to curb global warming in every way possible-from altering individual behaviors, to influencing national policy.

In support of the Seventh UU Principle*, UU EcoMinds invites, encourages and organizes all metro UUs and friends to participate in our activities and meetings. EcoMinds achieves its mission through study, reflection, individual and collective action and collaboration within our congregations, across UU congregations and with community partners (both faith based and secular).

*The Seventh UU Principle: We respect the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

LEADERHIP: Current leadership team includes Chris Burda (First Universalist), Lisa Herschberger (Minnesota Valley UU Fellowship), and Madalyn Cioci (First Unitarian Society). Members of other congregations are encouraged to serve on the team as well! For more info contact Madalyn at 612-926-5249.

C. Join the MUUSJA E-Event Update List and get all the MUUSJA news!

You're invited to sign up for a short weekly E-Event Update from MUUSJA (EcoMinds' sponsoring organization). This update lists social justice programs/events in the metro UU community and in the larger community. Typically no more than 4 or 5 events are listed in each category. Sign up---we think you'll like it! To sign up, use the forms at http://lists.muusja.org/mailman/listinfo/muusja if you have difficulty, contact MUUSJA member, Fred Olson, at fholson [at] cohousing.org
