Attending: Catie Chi Olson, Lisa Hirchberger, Ralph Wyman (notes), Marcy

1) HIRE - partnership w/ HIRE was voted at Spring MUUSJA meeting.  Rally
will be Monday, April 20th.

Roberta volunteered to be at sigh-making @ capitol at 1:30.

Ralph - send blurb to Lisa H and Bill C for congregation's Sunday OOS.

 

Discussion of how to mobilize UUs for Monday.  C3 can't act on this.  Blue
Green alliance?

What is the faith tie-in?  Statement of Conscience at G.A. two years ago.

Plan for turnout:  Marcy & Jo call FUS members

                Catie call MSUS & WBUUC

                Ralph call Dakota

Meet on east side of lawn, under big tree.  UUs for Social Justice banner
will be there.

 

EcoMinds could offer Eco speakers to the Stonetree speakers resource
[http://www.stonetreeuu.org/].  Can we ask Louis King to be a speaker
resource?  Who else?

 

2) Postcards - Cecelia will call Molly @ MEP, Ralph will process cards that
are in hand, deliver to capitol on April 20th.

 

3) MEP member application - Marcy working on it.

 

4) PSD Conference Duluth - Fri workshop really well attended & really good.
Environmental Justice was the main topic.

Sat workshop - Arc of Justice, an overview of models in social justice
organizing

Sat workshop - Green sanctuary.  30 people "sold out."

Note: Rev. Carol Hepokowski (Rochester) could be a good speaker on
sustainablility

 

5) Earth Day 

MN Valley UUF is working to propose 3 local and 3 global green sanctuary
ideas that MVUUF could do in the next year.  On May 17th the congregation
will vote on them and then work on the goals.

 

FUS - Solar Oven, Composting, Inst for Local Self-Reliance, Cap & trade
info, etc.

 

MSUS - will host earth day on May 3rd.

 

6) new leadership & new meeting time:

Lisa Herchberger and Catie Chi Olson have stepped forward to be co-chairs.

 

New set meeting time: 1st Thursday of the month.  May 7th.  7 pm.
