Our June meeting will be at First Universalist in Minneapolis, 7 pm, Tues.
June 9.
First, my apologies to anyone who has the June EcoMinds meeting in their
calendar as tonight. We moved the meeting to Tuesday, June 9th at our last
meeting (I think that's what we did.notes were unclear, but we announced the
June 9th date in the last "Connection", and room is reserved for the 9th.).
Second, the notes from the May 7th meeting:

Ralph and Catie attended the HIRE attending for the conference committee for
the weatherization bill (Sen. Anderson's committee).
Tues, May 12th, will be a rally in downtown Minneapolis.

About disparity in contracts for roadwork, Marquette,
Double bus lane on Marquette , no people of color and one woman
Rybak says can't do anything since federal $ ????? really
Fagre Benson and ? has $ from government in which departments
Jeff Palmer - paid lobbiest for HIRE
Tues, June 2nd @ Sabathani - H.I.R.E. community meeting - to look into what
the future should be for HIRE, and as accountability to the community for
the work done this session.
MNDOT doing comprehensive state rail plan (passenger and freight), by
December.
Ralph attended public hearing - they want to have meetings with
stakeholders, call the up if you want to have a meeting. Ralph coordinating
with HIRE on this.
Catie to talk with Kendyl about the downtown clergy involved with HIRE.
Future Eco-Minds ideas:
Education stuff - like a panel with Jeff, Karen (EJAM)
Prisoner pipeline (Deb Rogers) is doing, to keep kids out of prison - jobs
for kids at risk
UUSAN -
FYI: Charlie Clements and Bill Sinkford - Signed on torture
UUA signed an interfaith letter to Waxman and Markey - do cap and trade and
don't give away the credits (auction them)
Chair of Wash DC subcommittees - this morning - hearing about cost of cap
and trade, but costs otherwise
State Advocacy networks - FL, MD, Michigan, Ralph, other will start skype
telcomferencing - human right to water (in California) - try to figure out
to do something October 24th - create a kit - a Saturday, or Sunday
www.350.org is the central organizer of Oct. 24th actions. UU State
Networks across US are encouraging UU congregations to plan an action.
Last october in Massachusettes - a UU congregation rang 350 bells, daffodil,
workshop, press release,
C3 has a forum to promote this
Also, State Networks are collaborating to testify @ EPA hearing in D.C.
area, on global warming causing health endangerment.
Summer vacation Photo Project:
Make a basic sign - don't let global warming ruin my XXXXX (favorite fishing
hole; community garden; beach vacation, etc.)
Collage posters - mom and eight year old, north shore lighthouse - mail this
to legislators - whatever is important to you - collage, slide show on web
Tack it on to the water communion
Have to figure out how to do it in detail
