MUUSJA EcoMinders:

You probably know that precinct caucuses are about more than just endorsing
candidates. They are also where community leaders like you can propose the
priorities you want included in your party's official platform.

This year, HIRE Minnesota has a precinct caucus resolution ready for you to
use, outlining a vision of healthy communities, fair and equitable hiring
practices and true government accountability. Please introduce this
resolution at your precinct caucus on February 2, and consider running to be
a state delegate!

MUUSJA is collaborating with HIRE to present a special caucus training this
Saturday, from 10-11:30 am at First Universalist in Minneapolis. Come at
9:45 for coffee and muffins! If you are already a caucus pro, we've
included the resolution language below, too.

This training is non-partisan and open to anyone wanting to know more about
sponsoring a resolution. Caucuses are Tuesday for Green, Independence,
Republican and Democratic parties.

If you present a HIRE resolution at your caucus, please let us know by
e-mail: ralph [at] muusja.org

FYI - The Resolution

Precinct Caucus Resolution: February 2, 2010

Whereas the rate of unemployment in Minnesota is alarmingly high and much
higher for
people of color; and

Whereas public institutions are making unprecedented investments, but
displaying a
troubling pattern of failure to meet their goals for people of color and
women; and

Whereas the HIRE Minnesota coalition and other advocacy groups are working
to
ensure that public investments in infrastructure and renewable energy help
lift people
out of poverty, reduce racial disparities and contribute to healthier
communities for all
of us;

Be it resolved that the Minnesota State Legislature pass legislation
ensuring that:

. Publicly funded green jobs and training opportunities reach low-income
people
and people of color
. Agencies in charge of public investments meet their women and minority
hiring,
contracting and training goals
. Our government is accountable and transparent in its processes and
reporting
