Greetings MUUSJA EcoMinders! We just received word from Senator Higgins that our hiring equity and green jobs bill is scheduled for a hearing before the State and Local Government Operations and Oversight Committee next Wednesday, March 10th at 3 pm in Room 123 of the State Capitol. If the bill passes this committee it will make the first legislative deadline of the session - very, very important. The bill number is SF 2809. You can read it here: https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bin/bldbill.php?bill=S2809.0.html&session=ls86 This bill will help focus attention on an array of existing statutes that require bonding money going to buildings shall meet energy efficiency standards. It will also, very importantly to HIRE and to MUUSJA for our environmental justice work, significantly help in creating hiring equity for low income people and people of color. If you can POSSIBLY attend this hearing next Wednesday, at 3pm, please set the time aside to join us. Your support will mean a lot to moving the bill. - Ralph Ralph Wyman MUUSJA Director/Organizer 612-998-6624 www.muusja.org
