The next hearing of our bonding equity bill has arrived. The Senate State Government Budget Division will bring our biggest challenge yet. In a year of massive budget shortfalls, this committee will be extremely difficult to get past. We need you at this hearing to remind our legislators that our communities deserve a fair share of the jobs created by the bonding bill: = Hearing on Bonding Equity Bill = Senate State Government Budget Division 10:00 am (note time change) Wednesday, March 24 State Capitol, Room 112, St. Paul *Please meet in the Rotunda of the State Capitol at 9:30am The bonding package is passed by the state legislature every other year and invests hundreds of millions of dollars to construct new projects in our state. HIRE Minnesota has worked with key legislators to introduce SF2809 that would: ? Require bond-funded projects to include plans for a diverse workforce ? Require regular reporting to legislative committees about hiring outcomes for low-income people and people of color. Last week, we accomplished a major victory towards ensuring our communities earn a fair share of the jobs created by public investments with the passage of our bill in two policy committees. Given the HUGE budget deficits this year, our bill now faces the toughest committee yet. Getting through this committee will be very tough, so we need you to show up and send the message that this relatively small investment is critically important to make, even in a time of budget shortfalls. Please e-mail Ralph Ralph [at] muusja.org if you think you can attend! Thank you!
