Subject: [sa-talk] VOTE again - November 4th event - same film-maker

All -

First, a word about Nov. 3rd..... so far, it looks like Social Action
folks are OK to co-sponsor Dorothy Fadiman's new film, "Stealing
America:
Vote by Vote" on Friday evening, Nov. 3. No one has spoken against
co-sponsoring, so I think we can go ahead with that. Additional
info
from the UU women who are working on the event:
We will include a MN computer science expert in the discussion after
Dorothy's film who can talk about his findings from analyzing election
data in MN which should be quite interesting (and the film features a UU
minister from Ohio which is a nice touch for us!).

NOW - about Nov. 4th (and my vote is YES for Social Action to
co-sponsor
that event also....)
The same group of UU women are interested in keeping the film-maker,
Dorothy Fadiman, in town - " ... we hosted a screening of another of her
films a few years ago, "Motherhood by Choice, Not Chance". She is quite
famous for her work on reproductive rights (and has won an Emmy and was
nominated for an Oscar for her work).... it's too good an opportunity
to pass up with Dorothy here, so we are also hoping to screen one of her
reproductive rights films and have a discussion with her ...on Saturday
morning Nov 4 (say 10am to noon) ... we are hoping that FUS will
co-sponsor this event, too."

"One final thing that is driving this relatively short lead-time. We
are
hoping to tap into the Planned Parenthood annual dinner which is on Nov.
2 with Al Gore as the featured speaker. They expect 1600 people to
attend! ... we are working with Planned Parenthood to see if we can ...
pass out flyers about the two screenings on Friday and Saturday. ...
We're also hoping to get Dorothy to a private reception with Gore to
discuss her new film and give him a copy.

"In sum, we are hoping FUS Social Action will agree to co-sponsor both
of
these film screenings on Nov. 3 and Nov. 4."
