At last night's membership Committee meeting, we were talking about
the terrible decision to close three Mpls. libraries.  Caroline
Lappin suggested this might be something that the Social Action
Committee might wish to respond to, and also ty to do something about
(perhaps as a letter writing campaign).
For those who may not have been following:  the Mpls. Library Board
decided to close three branch libraries at least until summer:
Roosevelt (which serves the community near Roosevelt High), Southwest
(the Dinkytown area), and Webber Park,  a library on the Northside
I'm going to call Diane Hofstede's office (she wrote comments on the
Editorial page in today's Star Trib) to see if there's anything that
can be done at a grass-roots level.
