I vote yes...this is a wonderful way to continue to make connections with the agency, and I'm delighted that we couldl at least purchase some of the plants from Unity SUmmer.

Attached are copies of two emails received from Dan Tix regarding the planting project we talked about last fall. Dan is an FUS member and works for Great River Greening http://greatrivergreening.org. The idea discussed was that the RE teens would be active in choosing a location, planning the project, choosing the plants and doing the planting. The Social Action part was to help fund the project. Great River Greening has received some grant money to help with this as well. A requirement of the grant was that the work involve active participation of youth.

The teens have chosen the playground at the Agape Child Development Center, 1915 W. Broadway. They are already familiar with the site because last spring they removed tree roots from the playground and put down wood chips. Social Action bought the chips. FUS adults were also part of that project and have worked on the playground pulling weeds on previous Community Service Sundays.

So - - that's where we are today. You'll read in the attached email copies, what the plans are and how much we are being asked for. Notice that some of the plants will come from Unity Summer plant sale, which, in turn, will help fund future Unity Summer programs.
