I was at the meeting, but here are my votes: YES to asking Military Families Speak Out for the Forum - and YES to them getting the luncheon proceeds. YES to Peace Foundation getting the SJ collection (this was the suggestion at the April 29th SAC annual retreat, so that's not a change....). I can help bring food for the luncheon - the plan is for SAC to work with Mark and bring/make PEACE PASTA salads, and other salads..... We had to get specific because we have an Aug. 10th deadline for the newsletter; plans have to be in place. We discussed plans for a Forum, Social Justice collection and lunch on 9/16. The theme is "Peace" and the date is important because it is close to the U.N. Day of Peace. Below are the notes from the mtg. so you can see what we are considering. Please give us feedback regarding the speakers at the forum, the plans for the lunch and the receipient of the collection.Thanks___________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________"We began by talking to Madeline (Simon) about Sept 16. She will work on the newsletter submission. We talked about how we could get people to take action that day at the table: postcards and letters, actions including the Declaration of Peace pledge. We need to get people working on talking to their congress people THIS week because they are voting on war funding soon. Madeline will come up with stuff for that day. We talked about who we should have speak at the forum and who we should give the SA collection to. We talked about Military Families Speak Out. There is a meeting with Teresa West and the Membership committee on July 25 at Sabastien Joe's. Marcia will be in touch with Teresa and see about the lunch. We will have the Peace Foundation get the collection but give the luncheon proceeds to The Military Families group." __________________________________________________________________ First Unitarian Society Social Action TALK To unsubscribe, update address, see archives of message, or subscribe, go to: http://muusja.org/FUSsa__________________________________________________________________ First Unitarian Society Social Action TALKTo unsubscribe, update address, see archives of message, or subscribe, go to:http://muusja.org/FUSsa
