Kulture Klub exhibited at FUS last summer. Now they are at the Capitol! ----- Original Message ----- From: Kirsten Anderson-Stembridge To: Kirsten Anderson-Stembridge ; mregan6264 [at] aol.com ; kuoppala [at] yahoo.com Sent: Thursday, April 02, 2009 12:50 AM Subject: APRIL 6 YMF Art Opening - at the Capitol! Hello Youth Moving Forward Friends! April 6, 3:30-5 is the YMF art opening at the Capitol (in the North Hall, adjacent to the 1st floor rotunda) - celebrating the Kulture Klub Collaborative COST: Consider Our Stories True exhibit . This is a perfect occasion to invite colleagues, friends, board members, youth, family and others in your life who have heard about your work on youth homelessness but who have never visited the capitol. Please help make this a success (WE NEED YOU), and: 1.. Attend! 2.. Invite others, especially your legislators (flyers for the public and for legislators attached - thanks to Marney Thomas of Youthlink) Directions to the capitol and other logistical questions can be answered at www.leg.mn, or send questions to me and I will do my best to provide answers. Art openings are fun, easy ways to enjoy one another - celebrate the talented Kulture Klub - and engage legislators in a casual environment! SEE YOU THERE IN OTHER UPDATES: a.. The YMF hearing in the House Housing and Public Health Finance committee went very well. The hearing took place Tuesday, March 31 and was a great success due to your presence, due to great youth representatives and testifiers Grace Foresberg of Avenues and Lance Goodwin of Youthlink, and due to our great author Rep. Rosenthal. Please take a moment to e-mail your thanks to Rep. Rosenthal for his excellent leadership - at rep.paul.rosenthal [at] house.mn. b.. Thursday, April 2 a crucial YMF proposal will be heard in Senate Finance! Sen. Marty's SF666 assures youth who run from care at age 15 or later or who age out of care can return for supports. c.. Monica Nilsson, a treasured member of our community and talented columnist was once again famous on Sunday as with her brother Steven she had an OpEd entitled They don't need pity. They need change. published in the Star Tribune http://www.startribune.com/opinion/commentary/42021817.html?elr=KArksc8P:Pc:U0ckkD:aEyKUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUU. Excellently done, Monica touches on multiple aspects of homelessness including youth experience - you'll want to check this out. Stay tuned for more to come - thank you for your great work, and we'll see you APRIL 6! ** don't forget, you are invited to the next YMF work group, to be held April 20, 10-12 at LSS ** Kirsten Anderson-Stembridge Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota kanderso [at] lssmn.org 651.969.2354 651.308.7765 - cell The information contained in this communication may be confidential, is intended only for the use of the recipient(s) named above, and may be legally privileged.
