Greetings Youth Moving Forward Supporters!

 

Thank you for your fantastic quick-paced advocacy - I know that calls and 
e-mails were flying to the Health and Human Service conferees as well as to 
legislators statewide.

 

You are making a difference - through a series of offers and counteroffers we 
now have $218,000 for the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act in 2010/11 agreed to 
by both the House and the Senate! In addition, the agreement includes $238,000 
in the base ($119,000 per year) for the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act for 
2012/13.

 

The negotiation process continues: 

  a.. we want to see the Senate proposal to enroll youth aging out of care in 
Minnesota Care included in the final agreement 
  b.. the work of the conference committee is far from over and ultimate 
passage is dependent upon other work to be done at the legislature (wrapping up 
the tax bill, resolving how much exactly each committee will need to spend and 
cut) 
 

Our YMF mission continues - please continue your efforts to engage legislators, 
to build community support, to support youth as they advocate.
