This probably couldn't have happened during the past 8 years but tomorrow there will be a symposium at the Museum of Natural History

EVENT HIGHLIGHT

Darwin Anniversary Symposium- On Saturday, Sept. 12, the museum is hosting an all day symposium celebrating the bicentennial of Charles Darwin’s birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his book “On the Origin of Species.” Saturday, September 12. 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

opening a major exhibit:

The symposium coincides with the opening of the museum's newest exhibit, "Since Darwin: The Evolution of Evolution," which seeks to illuminate how knowledge of evolution has changed since the mid-19th century. The exhibit runs through July 18.

No doubt there will be protests since this is taxpayer money! How dare a federal museum say <knowledge> when evolution is <only a theory>!

This raises again the old question of what this society owes to its children. They should be protected from abuse. Isn't preventing them from being exposed to knowledge (and substituting mythological nonsense) a form of abuse? Adults, of course, should have an absolute right to reject knowledge and espouse anything in he name of religious freedom -- as long as they don't harm others because of heir exercise of that freedom.

But aren't children protected <others>?
