I'd love to see Precious sometime. I was just thinking today about our annual day-after-Thanksgiving movie tradition. Do you think we should try to keep that going this year? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Polly Peterson" <peter089 [at] umn.edu>

Subject: [sa-talk] Two interesting films open at Landmark this week

Continuing my role as socially-relevant culture maven <grin> there are
two interesting films that are opening this week at Landmark:

Skin - about a black child of white South Africans during apartheid
(who had no idea that they had any black roots) and

Crude - about the "Amazon Chernobyl" (I have never even heard that there
was such a thing!)

Also, in the "Coming Soon" list is

Precious - about a young black girl in Harlem succeeding against all
odds. It won at Sundance.
