This came from Dick Bernard this morning--a fundamentalist manifesto. Peace, Madeline I think it would be a useful use of your time for you to take a good look at this evangelical Christian 'startup', particularly the list of signers, one of which (#91) is Archbishop John Nienstedt of St. Paul- Minneapolis. I first read about it in yesterday's New York Times. http://manhattandeclaration.org/ This is the Project for a New American Century for Arch-right-wing "Christian" Conservatives. As of 8:00 this morning, it is said to have 5585 signers (the original manifesto has 148 signers). This is a small bunch - a few Catholic Bishops, Archbishops and Cardinals, familiar folks like James Dobson of Focus on the Family, Chuck Colson, and the like. But they have very big microphones. This would be a good time to get acquainted with this manifesto which, quite contrary to Nienstedts declaration in the November 19 Catholic Spirit (p. 19A) that "The church, by her very nature, is not a political animal, but the church has to continue to teach and to educate people in these very essential issues", has as its intent (my opinion) the exact same thing as the dreamers who put together the Project for a New American Century envisioned and very nearly realized: control of everyone forever.
