The following article was sent to me by Dick Bernard on his P&J list. I sent it immediately to Erik Paulsen, Congressman 3rd District, and I am going to send it to MAP list as well: Message Subject: Health Message Text: Dear Congressman, The follwing article in the New England Journal of Medicine, November 18, 2009, should be required reading for all members of the house and senate: The Consequences of "No" By Arthur L. Kellermann, M.D., M.P.H., and Lawrence S. Lewin, M.B.A. http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/full/NEJMp0910138v1 This is an extremely important article. So often in contests like we're now witnessing, the goal of "winning" at all all costs can overshadow the very major consequences of such a "win." It's not easy to keep perspective. It's clear the Right is interested, solely, in "winning" and Obama and the Democrats "losing." Even the Right would be damaged. We cannot afford to keep the status quo in health care in the US. Sincerely, Madeline Simon
