MESSAGE: Dear Folks,

A meeting has been scheduled with Avinash Viswanathan, a staff member of
Senator Franken, to discuss torture and torture accountabilty issues similar to
those we intend to raise tomorrow in our meeting with Senator Klobuchar's
staffperson. While additional issues for Senator Klobuchar have been proposed
since the email reproduced below, I think it will give you an idea of the type
of issues we would like to discuss with Senator Franken's staff as well.

Mr. Viswanathan has informed me that their conference room will accommodate
about eight people comfortably. I told him I was sure some would be willing to
stand. He did say if I got back to him soon, he could certainly try to arrange
an alternate location. For now, the meeting is to be held on Thursday, Jan. 14,
2:00 p.m., at the Senator's office, 60 E. Plato Blvd., Suite 220, which is at
the corner of Robert Street and Plato Blvd. on St. Paul's West Side. Mr.
Viswanathan is a staff member iinvolved in policy issues and is in regular
contact with Senator Franken's staff in Washington who work on Judiciary
Committee matters.

If you or members of your organization would like to attend, please let me know
as soon as possible.

Yours,

Chuck Turchick
