The World Health Organization has now documented some human-to-human transmission of the H5N1 strain of influenza A. http://www.who.int/csr/don/2008_04_03/en/index.html If this outbreak in Pakistan had gone unchecked, it would probably have been the beginning of a pandemic. This is likely to happen again and again as the H5N1 reassorts with other influenza A strains in its host (pig, human, ...) If the public health authorities are not alerted in time or not empowered enough to check it each time, as I seen it, the pandemic begins. Bill Weir
