#7 RENEWABLE ENERGY/ENERGY EFFICIENCY TOUR: JUNE 22
**********************************
#1 220 ATTEND RICHARD HEINBERG LECTURE EVENT!
Thanks to all the EcoMinds who helped with or
attended this great event last Friday!
Over 200 people filled First Universalist's
sanctuary and a large energetic group stayed
for conversation, community and action afterwards.
The presentation was videotaped and recorded.
If you would like to obtain a video or audio copy
of the presentation, please contact Chris Burda,
cburda [at] smm.org
One of the questions now is "Will UU EcoMinds
help people follow up and take action on this issue?
And if so, how?" This will likely be topic at an
upcoming all EcoMinds meeting.

#2 LEGISLATION ACTION: Federal Energy Bill--Call or fax legislators
US PIRG and Save the Environment are both urging
people to call or fax Dayton and Coleman in DC
and tell them to VOTE AGAINST THE ENERGY BILL
which includes large perks and subsidies for big
corporate energy companies, provisions for more
drilling in Alaska, essentially nothing for
renewables, and no conservation plan.
You may also choose to tell them to vote against
the nuclear power subsidy amendment. Senators McCain
and Lieberman may add an amendment adding $5 billion
in subsidies for a new US nuclear power plant
(the first in 30 years). UU EcoMinds has no official
stance on nuclear power.

#3 ONLINE PETITION: SUPPORT UUA PRES. SINKFORD'S
cyber-march against global warming
>From the UU Seventh Principle Project:
Will you help the Seventh Principle Project put
Rev. Bill Sinkford at the top of the list?
Sign the petition under Rev. Sinkford's name at
www.stopglobalwarming.org
Rev. Sinkford has just signed on as a member
the cyber march on Global Warming.
In his statement Sinkford says: "I join this cyber
march against global warming, and encourage other
Unitarian Universalists to do so, because it is an
act of faith to speak out on behalf of our earth.
For hundreds of years, our theology has been radically
incarnational-- we do not understand the Holy to be
separate from this life, on this planet, made manifest
in concrete acts of caring for one another in our mutual
vulnerability. As we sing out praises for the beauty of
the earth, we also sing out commitment to protect that beauty."
Sinkford's complete statement can be found at
http://www.stopglobalwarming.org/campaigns/sgw/bio/reverend_sinkford/
Add your signature under Rev. Sinkford's name
and signal to our political leaders and the UUA
Board of Trustees the depth of our concern for Earth
and for the threat of global warming.
Please sign on today and launch an effort in your
congregation to ask every UU to do so.
The Board of the Seventh Principle Project and
Rev. Katherine Jesch, Director of Environmental Ministry

global warming, but unsure what to do?
