UU EcoMinds A-List for July 5, 2006
(This is an announcement only list. Responses should be sent
ecominds-editor [at] muusja.org)

UU EcoMinds promotes lifestyles, policies, and technologies
that respect and sustain all life on earth and is a working
group of the Metro Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Alliance (MUUSJA)

Hello all,
I'm trying to lay low this summer, catch my breath and get outside--
but it turns out that as rust never sleeps, neither does global warming
(and apparently neither does Lisa H. who has been doing tremendous
work!) So, here are a couple of quick announcements. -- Madalyn

#1 C3 STATE FAIR BOOTH UPDATE
#2 FINAL UU STATEMENT OF CONSCIENCE ON GLOBAL WARMING
#3 JULY 11, 2pm, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT & ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE in MN

====================
#1. C3 STATE FAIR BOOTH UPDATE:
Next design/work meeting:
Thurs., July 6, 4:30-6:50pm
Starbucks coffee shop
Excelsior Ave. in St. Louis Park
(near new Trader Joes)

Several UU EcoMinds are continuing
to work on design and construction of the C3 State Fair booth. The old
technology building will be transformed this year into "Eco Experience"
and our booth space will be dealing with the moral imperatives of global
warming and the power of efficient lighting as one excellent response.

Many of you have already volunteered to staff the booth and Marcy L. will be in
touch
with you.

If you have design, graphics, display expertise, or just some time you
are willing to give the effort, please join the "design team" at the next
meeting, 4:30pm at the Starbucks on Excelsior in St. Louis Park.

#2 FINAL UU STATEMENT OF CONSCIENCE ON GLOBAL WARMING
The UUA Statement of Conscience on Global Warming, just approved
at General Assembly, is now posted on the Commission for
Social Witness website.

You can download it from: http://www.uua.org/csw/SOCFinal06_GW.pdf

It was a long journey from the draft that we started with to this much stronger
final statement. Our own Lisa H. worked hard along with many members
of the UU Ministry for Earth. We owe them all thanks.

Now it is time to USE the document to guide our work and actions...in our
UU congregations, in our personal lives, and in our advocacy work!
