============================================================  I urge you to
Support the Energy Efficiency Bill (Senate File 997; House File 1221) Â
Energy efficiency is the best way to quickly reduce global warming pollution.
There are large opportunities to use energy more efficiently and save money! Â
In our current system, the gas and electric utilities earn more money by
selling more energy, which increases global warming pollution. We must change
the system so utilities have an incentive to earn money when we use less
energy. Â The gas and electric utility conservation programs must have
aggressive energy savings goals! Global Warming Mitigation Act (Senate File
192; House File 375) The Global Warming Mitigation Act has several important
goals we urge you to support: Â Requirements for reporting the greenhouse gas
emissions from the many sources â the first step to controlling this
pollution and participating in various trading systems. Â Aggressive
(non-mandatory) targets for the governorâs state global warming planning
process to strive to meet. Â A market-friendly system to stop the increases
in global warming pollution from power plants serving Minnesota customers and
foster innovation to identify the best ways to minimize global warming
pollution. Â Postpone building new carbon dioxide-emitting coal plants to
serve Minnesota customers until their global warming pollution can be
responsibly managed.
