Greetings EcoMinders! We are trying out reviving the ecominds-a at muusja.org list! [Feedback welcome to ralph [at] muusja.org.] ==March 14, 2008== MUUSJA EcoMinds promotes lifestyles, policies and technologies that respect and sustain all life on earth and is a working group of the Minnesota UU Social Justice Alliance. ECOMINDS EVENTS: #1 MUUSJA EcoMinds Action Meeting MAR 18, 7:00 PM First Universalist Church 3400 Dupont Ave S, Minneapolis Congregational Action Packets on "Green Solutions Act" & "Clean Cars Act" should be complete and ready for distribution. Help stuff & mail and help us make our Buddy System outreach to all 26 congregations a big success. We have prepared this postcard campaign and area environmental org leaders tell us it is critical to get this grassroots feedback to our legislators in the next few weeks! It is also time to begin planning for the eco-experience at the State Fair. FFI ralph [at] muusja.org or 612-998-6624 ALLIED ORGANIZATION EVENTS and ANNOUNCEMENTS: #2 Warming and Environmental Equality TUE MAR 18, 7:00 p.m. Bryant-Lake Bowl, Uptown $5-$10 (pay what you can) CAFE SCIENTIFIQUE -- A forum for science and culture held at the Bryant-Lake Bowl (A program of the Bell Museum). The environmental impacts of global warming are felt by communities worldwide-from droughts and floods that disrupt food systems to the rising sea levels that can displace entire populations. But will global warming disproportionately affect poorer, less developed nations and communities? How might discussions about global warming and political or economic development take this imbalance into account? Join speakers from the Headwaters Foundation for a discussion about global warming and environmental equality. #3 Hennepin County transportation tax hearings Tuesday, March 18, 2:00 PM, 24th floor Board Room, Hennepin County Government Center, 300 S. Sixth Street, Mpls. Tuesday, March 18, at 7:30 PM, Eden Prairie Library, 565 Prairie Center Drive, Eden Prairie. Expanded public transportation will need to be part of any meaningful package of solutions to global warming. Show your support for Minnesotans paying a fair share for transit improvements by attending one of these public hearings. The news sales tax law requires a rapid adoption of the sales tax or it will expire. ==> There are many more environmental actions going on around us. Major environmental groups web sites can be searched for lots of great actions and evets -- email suggested items of particular interest to EcoMinders to ralph [at] muusja.org for future EcoMinds e-mails.
