DRAFT agenda for SAC mtg 10/29/06
noon - 2pm (probably in Heritage Room...but maybe in Dietrich Room...
signs will be posted....)

1. Welcome! Introductions if needed. (5 min)

2. Review notes from last meeting. (5 min)

3. Treasurer's report. (5 min)

4. Request for funding support. (5 min)

5. Review SAC calendar - re: couple of changes. (10 min)

6. Update re: 125th anniversary of FUS - social action history, etc. (5
min)

7. Service Auction - who is organizing it this year, when do planning
meetings begin, who from SAC can help? Etc.... (10 min)

8. Sabathani Food Shelf collection is Dec. 3rd. R.E. will NOT be
doing a food collection program until later in 2007. So, 12/3 will be
just a one-day, all-congregation collection of food and funds for
Sabathani. Discussion item: should we split future food shelf
collections 50-50, between Sabathani and a Nside food shelf? (10 min)

9. Discussion re: connections between congregational votes on key social
justice issues, like torture, and all-congregation email action alerts
like the one SAC voted to send re: torture/habeus corpus/military
commissions. What does SAC think the policy at FUS should be? How do we
move forward re: a conversation about a policy that makes sense for FUS?
(15 min)

10. Discussion re: Kendyl's very inspiring sermon re: habeus corpus; how
effective it was re: mobilizing FUS folks (and others); the witness
action at congressional offices; coverage by UU World & UUSC re: our
actions as well as other similar actions in UU congregations around the
country. Do we want to organize more one-time witness opportunities?
(15 min)

11. Adele will kick-off a discussion about service work at FUS, starting
with information from last GA about the Jericho program. What are we at
FUS doing re: direct service these days? Update re: North High mentoring
project. Do we want to organize more one-time service opportunities? What balance do we want, re: elements of SAC program - education,
service, witness, systemic change.
(20 min)

11. Announcements. (5 min) - MUUSJA meeting - 2 new working groups
- UU State Advocacy Networks update
- UU anti-racism conference at Unity

12. Meeting evaluation. (5 min)
