Well said, Adele.  I too am in favor of making a plan before looking for
staff.  What exactly do we want and need a social justice staff person
to do.

That's an excellent idea, but probably needs to be discussed at a
different 
place. We don't know what the current UUA expectations are i nterms of
SJ 
work.

I believe a staff person is a great idea, but it clearly cannot be a
full 
time job, nor even a 20 hour-week job at this point. The last LRP
comittee 
(the one on which I served) had the idea of a position with some 
ministerial duties focusing on youth and SJ. We also have to always
think 
about money. The Board is planning a capital comapign sometime in the 
future --date unspecified), but one priority is the building/grounds. If
we 
could make the second priority a second minister...that is what we
should 
be working toward. (Working toward=helping to write a job description)
and 
as Bob T mentioned, an "agenda" for our SJ program. I like the idea of a
SJ 
"Long Range Plan": setting some goals for next year, and the "future" (3

years from now...).
