Info on how to attend GA for free - ADULTS and YOUTH ----- Original Message ----- From: Ralph Wyman To: 'Carol Koepp' Sent: Monday, January 18, 2010 3:14 PM Subject: Volunteering at G.A. David Lauth tells me that the volunteer application process (for people wanting to volunteer for 24 hours service/14 hrs youth in exchange for full registration) open up March 1 on the UUA's GA web site, and closes March 31. He mentioned that he visited FUS in the fall and spoke about it then, but not where he addressed his comments (Forum? Sunday program? Board meeting? I don't know). Here's the web page with the info: http://ns1.uua.org/events/generalassembly/registrationhousing/financialaid/14930.shtml Note that people interested in volunteering should not register for GA until their application is processed. Applicants will be notified in April whether their app has been accepted, in time to still register at the discounted rate before May 1 if not accepted. I have no idea if/hoe many people might be turned away. I will stay in touch with you about the shorter term volunteer opportunities I know about - such as marshaling for the Saturday Pride public withness event, helping with some hospitality events (I know the UU UN Office and the UU Ministry for Earth folks are each looking for local support for off-site events they wish to hold - since the Convention Center is expensive and getting away for a break can be really nice after a full day at the Convention Center. MUUSJA will probably have some sort of lunch gathering - perhaps in conjunction with UUMFE - during GA, too.). Thanks! - Ralph
