Politicians are heavily involved in our education system, all the way down to 
the multitude of elected school boards. And politicians are noted for their 
anti-scientific biases that lead them to disrespect data.

Ravitch's challenges hold their feet to the fire. But unless you bring such 
challenges to your local boards, our system will continue to slip, and our 
recruitment of good teachers for tomorrow will continue to be feeble.
