PESTICIDES AND YOU: HOW TO CREATE HEALTHY LAWNS AND HOMES
with David Wallinga, M.D., Director of the Food and Health program at the
Minneapolis-based Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (IATP). All of us
carry pesticide residue in our bodies. While some pesticide exposure comes
from food, chemicals used in homes and on lawns are also significant sources.
Pesticides like DDT were banned years ago, but
persist in body fluids and fatty tissue. Other harmful pesticides have only
been recently recognized. Today pesticide exposure begins in the womb and can
affect developing fetuses. This talk will focus on what people can do to
reduce pesticide exposure, beginning with curbing use on lawns and in homes.
This non-partisan event is free and open to the public. Sponsored by the Green
Party of Edina.
