UU  ECOMINDS FALL KICK-OFF MEETING. We have invited Representative, Ray Cox,  
to discuss the MN 2020 Renewable Energy Bill. Renewable energy and  
conservation will be the strategy-duo UU EcoMinds will use this year to  focus 
on 
curbing global warming. Join us to discuss campaigns and  activities for the 
upcoming year. Plus! Plan to arrive early to catch a  special showing of Jeff 
Barrie's film, Kilowatt Ours: Plan to  Reenergize America. The film will start 
at 
6pm  and lasts about 40min. Light refreshments and drinks will be available or  
you can bring a bag dinner.

As individuals and as congregations  let's celebrate all we can do in the 
name of the environment and social  justice. Hope to see you there. Let us know

SEPTEMBER  23 to 25 
SOCIAL  ARTIST AS WORLD SERVER WITH DR. JEAN HOUSTON
The  need to train leaders in a completely new way is critical. Healthy,  
sustainable growth requires a revolution in strategies and tactics. Dr.  Jean 
Houston--a cultural historian whose 30-year career spans psychology,  
sociology, 
economics and philosophy--can equip today's leaders to deal  with the 
complexity and chaos of today's world. Jean is the author of 17  books, 
including The 
Possible Human. Jean  Houston's work is where inner life and social justice 
intersect.   It’s important that we have participants in the weekend who are 
concerned  with this, who will interact with Jean and will have the opportunity 
to  meet each other

fighting spirit of oppressed peoples who chose to die for their  freedom rather 
than returning alive in chains to hell on earth,  namely the sugar plantations 
of Pernambuco province has long lived  in the collective memory of 
Afro-Brazilians. Palmeres defied  the Portuguese empire for almost a century.

EYES  WIDE OPEN, an outdoor traveling exhibit, sponsored by the American 
Friends  Service Committee. In the exhibit, there is a pair of boots for each  
American soldier killed in Iraq,  and countless pairs of shoes representing 
Iraqi 
deaths. It is meant to be  a tribute to the huge human costs of the war.

SEPTEMBER  24-26: RALLY TO END THE WAR IN IRAQ  WASHINGTON,  D.C. 
Includes  a mass rally on the National Mall starting at 11:00  AM  on 
Saturday. Though not formally endorsing the rally, the UUA is promoting  it, 
and the 
Washington Office will be identifying a UU meeting place…stay  tuned for

SEPTEMBER  24-26: UU SERVICE COMMITTEE STOP TORTURE WEEKEND.  WASHINGTON,  
D.C.  Events begin Saturday with workshops and lobby trainings at a church in  
downtown Washington.  On Sunday, All Soul's Church Unitarian will host an 
Interfaith Service  that includes torture survivors. The main event is a mock 
trial 
on Sunday  afternoon, during which prominent actors portraying US government  
officials (including Martin Sheen as Donald Rumsfeld!) will be prosecuted  by 
real lawyers using real evidence from torture survivors and reputable  news 
sources. Monday will be a rally on Capitol Hill and lobbying for an  end to US
