--3 Reproductive Rights: FAITH AND CHOICES, New Co-Ed group!

Saturdays, 2/9, 16, 23, & 3/1 10 AM to Noon

FIRST UNIVERSALIST CHURCH

3400 DUPONT AVE S, MINNEAPOLIS

Faith & Choices provides an opportunity to increase dialogue about morality,
faith, and reproductive choice. The curriculum works with a UU specific
Faith & Choices Action Kit, developed by the Religious Coalition for
Reproductive Choice. The curriculum helps to bring those resources to life
in the context of group discussion. Participants will gain an understanding
that many religious denominations developed pro-choice position statements
before abortion was legal in the United States.

This 4 session reproductive choice curriculum helps congregation members
have a broader conversation about reproductive choice, helps people clarify
their own beliefs in relation to their faith tradition, and empowers people
to work for reproductive justice.

All are welcome, please pre-register by e-mail or phone to Cathy Apostle,

--7 Regaining the Commons: Video Presentation WHAT A WAY TO GO

SAT FEB 2

10:30 AM-1:00 PM

Merriam Park Library (lower level)

Corner Fairview and Marshall Aves., St. Paul

WHAT A WAY TO GO, produced by Tim Bennett http://www.whatawaytogomovie.com/

Wilderness Connections is hosting a series of discussions/workshops/actions
on the premise that life as we and our close ancestors have experienced [at
least since the beginning of the 20th Century] may be coming to an end, and
great changes are in store for the world. How does one prepare for those
changes? How does one reflect on the reason we have reached this stage, and
how to go on? What can we offer to life on earth from this point in our
existence?

We'll be screening the DVD and will have time to discuss its implications
and the on-going roles that we might play. We hope these discussions have an
action orientation. Please join us.

--9 Grandmothers for Peace -- FREE SPEECH FOR SALE - A Bill Moyers Special

WED FEB 6

12:45 pm
Edina Library, Grandview Square
Edina, MN

"When it comes to today's important public policy issues, the opportunity to
be heard depends on whether you can afford it. In this program, Bill Moyers
and key legal and public interest advocates examine how industries with deep
pockets use their access to the media to overwhelm the public debate, from
North Carolina's hog industry to the defeat of the McCain Tobacco Bill to
the passage of the Telecom Act of 1996. This Act, all but ignored by the
newspapers and TV outlets owned by megamedia, amounted to a massive giveaway
of the public's airwaves. What consequences does this control over the flow
of information have for our democracy, and how can individuals and public
interest organizations counter the growing dominance of big media?"(57
minutes, color)
