Greetings Minnesota UUs:

It is an exciting time as the legislature reaches its mandated session-end.

Both the House and Senate have passed historic and important legislation.
Please now contact Governor Pawlenty to tell him to Support the Local
Government Health Bill!

Yesterday, the Minnesota House passed the bill 83-50 (see roll call below)
and now the bill goes to the governor's desk. The bill passed the Minnesota
Senate in April.

Tell Governor Pawlenty to let this important bill become law!

This is the first time in 15 years that GLBT-friendly legislation has passed
both houses of the legislature in the form of a stand-alone bill! One of
MUUSJA's partner organizations, OutFront Minnesota, played a major role in
this historic legislative victory. Let's help them complete the success!

This bill would enable local governments to choose to offer domestic partner
benefits to employees and their families. It expands health care protections
for families while allowing local governments to do what's best for their
own communities.

Contact the governor and tell him "I support providing health care benefits
to more families and honoring local control over local issues."

Governor Tim Pawlenty
Telephone: (651) 296-3391
Toll Free:  (800) 657-3717
E-mail:   tim.pawlenty [at] state.mn.us [phone calls are best as time is
short!]

After you contact the governor, please e-mail or call your state
representatives to respond to their vote.
